When Condé Nast Traveller published Emma Gannon's piece on how creative retreats became the new girls' trip, we recognised every word of it. Emma — the bestselling author of The Success Myth and Olive — makes the case that a trip with like-minded strangers can give you something a holiday with your oldest friends sometimes can't:
"This felt different. Sacred, even. A space where everyone was meeting each other exactly as they were, on their own terms, momentarily free from past baggage."
That's the thing we watch happen on every retreat. Nobody arrives as somebody's colleague, somebody's mum, somebody's plus-one. You arrive as yourself, and the group meets you there.
The piece closes with a round-up of "the best creative retreats to know about" — and Marnie Rays is on it. Here's how Condé Nast Traveller described us:
"Founded by Lindsey Holland, Marnie Rays is a retreat company on a mission to transform the typical surf and wellness retreat experience. Rooted in a love of waves, sunshine, meaningful connection, and personal growth, these retreats are designed to help people step outside their comfort zones and into a more expansive version of themselves."
We couldn't have put the mission better ourselves, so we're not going to try.
